First you need to know, I have NEVER blogged before in my life!!! (I love caps and exclamation points). I have been nudged gently but straight forwardly by a few individuals who are guiding me in this industry, "Blogging is a must!" My immediate reply was, "I can hire someone to blog for me!!" In which their reply was, "Yes, at times, but YOU are who the people want to know". Which led to many days of great introspect, "Why" don't I want to blog? Being an artist and not an english major, my first grade teacher would probably have red circles around my punctuation. I also believe it's due to the daunting flood of blogs filled with, "Look at me!, I'm the best, I'm rich, braggy braggy marketing techniques, that probably work. I realized I didn't have to be that. Being me, feeling good in my own skin is all I have to do. My hope in blogging is to open myself and my layers of humanity, and hope that you see a story of humanity with an inversion of art in every still frame. So until we meet in person, I would like to leave my First Blog with the most "real" and self defining quote by Erma Bombeck.
When I stand before my God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have one single bit of talent left in me, and I could say, 'I used EVERYTHING you gave me'.
I will also leave you with one of my favorite still shots, not taken by myself, but by my brother, Greg. It was a warm October day and we surprised our Dad who lived in NE with a visit. We sat in white wicker chairs in the warm sun telling old stories and laughing until my dad became tired and nodded asleep sitting up. When I leaned my head on his, smiling in his easily elderly restful state. My brother stopped the most beautiful moment in time! The following day, my father had a stroke, and 5 days later, he now rests with my Mother.
Capturing REAL moments of life and love is what I will give you. From it's darkest moments to it's joyous light, Life is Beautiful!
Did I mention that out of 4 siblings, I'm my Dad's Favorite!!! :)
